Denis Francois*, a member of Total Professeurs Associés, taught a course on Basic Log Interpretation & Applications for Petroleum Evaluation to the students of Petroleum Geology Department in Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov.
At the end of the course, 26 students out of 42 successfully passed the test and obtained TPA certificates.
Total Professeurs Associés was established in July 2001 as a non-profit association, its goal being to build bridges between the oil industry and academic circles by delegating professors or experts who deliver technical or business-related presentations. Member professors are working or retired Total Group employees who lecture in their field of expertise. Together, they cover all the technical and non-technical areas that a large international group can encompass. TPA is our key partner in establishing and maintaining cooperation with Russian universities.
This teaching mission in Russia isn’t the first one for Denis Francois: last year, he gave lectures in the Gubkin Russian State Oil and Gas University. This week he is giving a course in the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov (Arkhangelsk).
*Denis Francois joined Total in 1981. During his career he was in charge of Geosciences for the Group’s subsidiaries in Syria, Angola, Nigeria, USA and Norway.
